Men in Black III

Boris the animal escaped from the maximum security prison from the moon.  He went back in time to eliminate the person who was responsible for his capture – Agent K.  Agent J noticed the connection between Boris and Agent K.   Later on he learned that K was a key person in deploying the ArcNet defense system which led to Boglite’s race extinction.  Boris went back to past and worked with his old self to kill agent K.

Agent J followed Boris in the past when the ArcNet is not yet in place.  The old agent K mistrusts Agent J at the start but changed his mind later on.  They tracked down an alien named Griffin who can see multiple futures.  Boris kidnapped Griffin and the two agents tried to chase him and were able to get Griffin back.  They ended up in Cape Canaveral in Florida where Apollo 11 is preparing to take off.

While in the vicinity near the launch pad, they were stopped by a Colonel.  Griffin used his abilities to persuade the Colonel and took them up to the rocket.  The old and new Boris attacked the agents.  Agent J killed the new Boris and agent K killed the old Boris.  K deployed the ArcNet on the tip of the rocket before the launched.  The Colonel on the other hand was ambushed by Boris before he got annihilated by K.  The Colonel had a son which J realized it was his younger version and the Colonel was his father.  Agent K became his surrogate father.

According to the other reviews, this episode of the MIB got the highest rating.  Others find it more amusing and the story makes more sense than the previous one.   It still has some bits and pieces of wits and funny moments which does take away and made the boring parts negligible.  It was fun and more entertaining which will definitely get the attention of the children and teenagers alike.

Men in Black II

After Agent K retired from MIB, Agent J did not have a permanent partner.  Nobody has lived up to the standards of Agent J.   Agent K now works as a postmaster in Truro, Massachusetts.   While on routine investigation, Agent J discovered that a Kylothian Queen who destroyed several planets is now on earth disguised as lingerie model.  Her true form is a plant-like hydra.  Agent J must now restore the memory of Agent J and convince him to join the MIB again to stop the Kylothian Queen.

J tried to deneuralyze Agent K but was able to retrieve some of his memories only.   Serleena the Kylothian Queen breaks into the MIB headquarters and locked it down.   Agent J and K escaped the lock down by being flushed down the toilet.  Serleena is seeking the “Light of Zartha” which she believes is still on earth.  Meanwhile Agent K finally recalled where the light was hidden and he also remembered that they tricked Serleena decades ago when he was still younger to hide the Light of Zartha from her.

Back on the MIB headquarters, Serleena freed the most notorious enemy of the MIB the henchman.  Serleena thought that the light was in the bracelet of Laura, so she kidnapped her.  Agent J and K together with the worm guys joined forces to take back and control the MIB headquarters.  The MIB was successful in saving Laura’s life which later they discovered that she was K’s daughter.  Laura left earth and went back to her home world Zartha.

This episode of MIB is a bit more exciting than the previous one.  Though it lacks freshness and just recycled most of the elements from the previous MIB, it is still an action packed sci-fi movie.   The comedy on this film is a bit retro just like the previous MIB but overall it is still worth watching especially if you’re up to movie sequels.

Men in Black (MIB) is a secret non-government agency that creates policy for extraterrestrial aliens migrating to earth.  Agent K is one of the MIB operatives whose partner Agent D felt tired and too old for the job.  He then asked K to neuralize him for retirement.  Agent Zed, the MIB head recommended that K should find a new partner in replacement of agent D.

James Darell Edwards III on the other hand is a police rookie who was trying to capture a man but the man turned out to be an alien.  K neuralizes James but left him an MIB business card.  James then competes with the other potential recruits but he excelled on the exams so James was chosen to become M IB operative known as Agent J.

One day, agent K investigates a farmer whose actions are a bit odd.  He then learned that the farmer has been killed and the skin was used as a cover for an alien bug who is at war with other alien race especially the Arquillians.  An MIB informant dressed as a dog explained that the bug is looking for a galaxy which is a source of a sub atomic energy which is enclosed in a Marble hanging on a cat’s collar.  In the end, Agent J and K defeated the bug and secured the earth for Arquillians.

This story will surely be enjoyed by kids.   The movie is too comical for most teenagers so they won’t enjoy it as much as the little kids do.  It’s a bit cartoonish for adults but an action packed movie.  The good thing about this movie is that they featured great actors such as Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.  It took away the boringness of the movie.  It’s like an old school movie that tried its best to be modern.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon

A Cybertronian spacecraft carrying a weapon capable of ending the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons escaped Cybertron.  The ship crash landed on the dark side of the moon and was detected by the humans.  The US government was the first to send an investigating team which was also the first mission to the moon.  Back on the present day, Sam is frustrated because he cannot work with the Autobots and he cannot find a job.  In addition to that, he’s jealous of his girlfriend’s boss.

When Sam finally found a job, his eccentric colleague Jerry Wang tried to warn him but Megatron already ordered a hit on those who knew about the space mission.  Sam also discovered that the Decepticons have hundreds of pillars while the Autobots have five.  He also learned that the Sentinel is the key in activating the pillars.  Later on the story, the Sentinel killed Iron Hide which is not known to the Autobots.  The Sentinel managed to transports hundreds of Decepticons to Earth which enabled them to invade the whole Chicago.

The Autobots escaped the exile which was actually an ambush.  They returned secretly to Chicago and waged war against the Decepticons.  With the aid of the NEST and other special forces, they were able to defeat the Decepticons but it killed Que (Autobots Scientist) on the process.  When Sentinel was about to kill Optimus, Megatron shot the Sentinel.  Optimus then killed Megatron then the Sentinel.   The pillars were destroyed along with it the Cybertron.

Among the three Transformers, this has the longest running battle.  It was a great movie with almost zero boring part.  The first and the second Transformers were extraordinary but this Transformer is outstanding.   Michael Bay really had some thought on the Transformer and all of the three episodes really earned well.  Though the Cybertron was destroyed and the existing villains were all slain, the Transformer fans are hoping for a fourth episode.

Tranformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Thirteen Primes travel the galaxy to harvest sun energy thousands of years ago.  They don’t destroy a sun if one of its planets has a life.  One of them defied this law and was named The Fallen.  On the present day, the Autobots are now working with humans’ secret group called NEST and they got a warning from one of the Decepticons that was slain in Shanghai operation.   The Decepticons on the other hand found where Megatron was laid to rest.

The remaining pieces of the Allspark were stolen by the Decepticons and revived Megatron.  After getting raised from the dead, he then reunited with the Fallen.  Another Allspark shard was with Sam and it channeled images of Cybertronian symbols.  Sam went to college where he met Leo and Alice (a Decepticon shape shifter).   Sam managed to kill Alice but he was captured by the Decepticons.  Sam was rescued by Optimus at the cost of his life.  Sam went to Simmons for a help to translate the images he sees.  Here they discovered that Jetfire is still alive and helped them interpret the images for Sam.

Agent Simmons, Sam, Mikaela and Leo went to Petra and discovered the Tomb of the Primes and found the matrix but it turned into dust.  Sam tried bringing the remnants of the Matrix to Optimus but they were attacked by the Decepticons along the way.  Sam almost died on this attack but he was able to revive Optimus.  Jetfire gave Optimus his life to give him extra power and defeated the Decepticons.  He crippled Megatron and killed the Fallen.

If you liked the first Transformers, there is no doubt you will like this better.  It’s an action packed movie and children aging from six onwards will surely enjoy this film.  Galloway was annoying but it was hilarious when he got dropped on some random Egyptian Desert.  The movie was really good and is really worth watching.  If you’re a fan of Transformers, you will definitely watch this film several times over.

Transformers

A war was waged between Autobots and Decepticons in a planet called Cybertron. The war extended for years until the Autobots managed to smuggle the Allspark out of Cybertron.  After knowing that the Allspark now is in Earth, Megatron decided to track it but because of his carelessness, he fell into the Arctic Circle freezing him for decades.  Archibald Witwicky discovered Megatron and he accidentally triggered Megatron to engrave the location of the Allspark on Witwicky’s glasses.

On the present day, Sam Witwicky is selling the things that Archibald left in the world online including the glasses which gives the location of the Allspark.   Both the Autobots and Decepticons learned about this and started rallying their allies on earth.  Dame came in contact with the Autobots.  Meanwhile, Blackout tried to hack the US base in Qatar and Frenzy tried hacking the Air Force 1.  Frenzy was picked up by barricade and went after Sam to extract the information from him, and then kill him.

Sam and Mikaela became friends along the way and the Autobots assisted them and protected them so they can’t be captured by the Decepticons.   Unfortunately, the government is also after them and they were captured including Bumble Bee.  The Decepticons located the Allspark where Sam was taken and the rest of the Decepticons were rallied and attacked the US secret base.  The Autobots managed to get the Allspark to Los Angeles and the battle ended there.   Sam inserted the cube to Megatron’s chest and killed him.  Megatron’s body was dumped into Laurentian Abyss.

This was a very exciting movie for those who were born on the 80’s.  It is like a dream come true.  Transformers is finally on film and not cartoons.  This movie doesn’t have dull moments at all.  Surely kids enjoyed this movie but the adults enjoyed it better.   The effects and storyline is remarkable.  For me this is one of the greatest movies ever created so far.  Michael Bay did a very good job on this film.

Peter Parker is trying to figure out pieces of his history as a person.  He is trying to find out how his parents died leaving him as an orphan.  He discovered his father’s documents and found out that that he has been working with Dr. Curt Connors at Oscorp Corp.  He tried to meet with Dr. Connors unfortunately he was recognized at the lab by his crush Gwen Stacy.   Peter took advantage of this and used Gwen to break into the lab and he was bitten by a genetically engineered spider.

This version of Spider-Man is a bit different from the previous one.   The story was good but it lacks action.  This movie was just really intended for teenagers nothing more.  Personally, I like the movie but I wouldn’t want to watch it the second time.  I still find the previous Spider-Man more enjoyable and have more effects that this.  This is a good movie but the previous version is better.

Spider-Man 3

On the previous Spiderman, Peter was having a hard time managing his crime fighting whereabouts and his love life.  Now, he finally found a way to balance this.  On the other hand, Harry Osborn became the new Goblin and swore to avenge his father’s death.   The two fought against each other and Spiderman knocked down the Goblin in the end.  This gave Harry a temporary amnesia.  Meanwhile, a black element found its way to earth and attached itself on Spiderman’s suit.  This amplified his power but amplified Peter’s dark side as well.

Peter discovered that Marko is the one who was responsible for Uncle Ben’s death.  Now that the symbiotic dark entity from space is with Peter now, it drastically changed Peter’s personality.  He broke up with Mary Jane and made her jealous; he confronts Harry telling him that his father did not love him; lastly, he exposed Eddie Brock doctoring a photograph of Spiderman as a criminal.

Peter later on realized that the symbiote is slowly controlling him.  He cannot take off the suit but he discovered that a high sound intensity could weaken the alien.  At the church bell, he successfully removed the symbiote but it fell to Brock making him the villain known as Venom.  Venom joined forces with Marko the Sandman.   On the other hand, Spiderman and the Goblin worked together for the sake of lost friendship and Mary Jane.  The wicked suffered and the good prospered on this dual battle. 

Spider-Man 3 has its exciting part and has its boring moments.  The exciting part is where the Black Spiderman is taking care all of the bad guys and how Brock turned to Venom.   I don’t know with others but I find the history of Sandman a little boring.   The part when Peter made Mary Jane jealous was a little senseless to me.  Anyway the story is still fun to watch as a whole.  Not too good for very young audiences but for those who know what super hero is all about, this movie is one of the best.

Spider-Man 2

Peter Parker has been struggling to balance his crime fighting and his love life.  His friend Harry which replaced his late father as head of Oscorp's research now has been supporting Dr. Octavius. Dr. Octavius tried demonstrating his experiment of harnessing the unlimited fusion power using an artificial intelligence robotic arm.  However, he miss calculated his experiment and it destroyed the inhibitor which prevents the robotic arm from controlling his mind.

A new villain has now been born known as Doc Ock. Dock Ock robbed a bank so it can finance his research.  He also had an agreement with Harry as well that Harry will give him the tritium he needed in exchange of Spiderman. Dock Ock knew that the key to get Spiderman is Peter Parker kidnapping Mary Jane on the process.  Spiderman battles with Doc Ock but Spiderman chose to save the people on the train sacrificing himself.  He was captured by Dock Ock in the end.

Harry was preparing for the arrival of Doc Ock.  He gave the tritium to Ock but he falls back when he found out that Spiderman was Peter himself. Peter convinced Harry to tell him the whereabouts of Doc Ock. Spiderman rescued Mary Jane and she also discovered that it was Peter.  In the end, Mary Jane changed her mind and did not marry her boyfriend and went back to Peter as his girlfriend.

This episode of Spider-man is as exciting as the previous one.  It contains action and drama.  What made the story worth watching is the reactions of the people close to Spiderman when they discovered it was Peter.  Revelations on Spiderman's true identity was really cool. Most teenagers will like this movie same as the older ones.  Kids below 7 years old might find the movie a little boring.  All in all it was a good movie to watch.

Spider-Man

The story of this 1^st episode of Spiderman was based from the original Marvel comic book.  Peter Parker is an orphan child who is living with his uncle Ben and Aunt May.  He is a nerd type, bullied at school and most of all, he can’t confess on his childhood crush Mary Jane Watson.  One day on an excursion, he was bitten by a genetically engineered spider which gave him extra ordinary powers.

Peter’s physical features changed dramatically overnight.  He got muscle –bound physique, super clear vision, ability to climb walls, spider sense and ability to shoot web from his wrist not to mention super human agility and strength.  His life changed a lot especially after his Uncle Ben was shot and died.  He became a super hero.  Green Goblin emerged after Norman Osborn’s research was turned down by the board of directors of his company.  He then murdered the board one by one and tried to convince Spiderman to join him.

Later on the story, the Green Goblin discovered that Peter Parker was Spiderman.  They came face to face and in the end, the Green Goblin accidentally killed himself.  Spiderman brought his lifeless body to his home where his son saw Spiderman laying him down on a couch.  Harry thought Spiderman killed his father and he became the second Goblin on the later episode.

This movie is really for teenagers.  It shows that teenagers have its rebellious moments against parents or guardians but later on they will realize that they were wrong.  The point is not about great power comes great responsibility but it is about how you care for the people that surrounds you not just to those close to you but to the community.  With or without powers we achieve goals beyond imagination if we will only help each other.

Shawshank Redemption

This is a story of a banker who was accused of murdering his wife and lover and was sent into prison for double life sentence in Shawshank State Penitentiary.  He made friends with an inmate called Red who is serving a life sentence.   Red gave Andy a rock hammer and poster of Rita Hayworth and years later, the poster of Marilyn Monroe and Raquel Welch.  Andy was assigned in laundry in prison but he was regularly assaulted by few gangs inside the prison.

Andy’s expertise on financial matters became very important in prison and with the guards.  He was then assigned to the library where he takes care of the prison’s financial issues.  He also requested that the library needs some improvement.  Andy received donations for the library after Brooks (a fellow inmate) hanged himself.  Norton on the other hand exploited the prison labor for public works and he had Andy launder the money for him.

On his stay in prison he made another friend whose name is Tommy Williams who later on revealed that there was another inmate on another prison who already claimed the responsibility of murdering Andy’s wife but the warden did not listen to this.  He does not want to let go of Andy.  Because of this, Andy escaped the prison and he sent evidences to local newspaper about the corruption and murders inside Shawshank prison.  He also took the money that he laundered for Norton and lived Zihuatanejo in Mexico.  Red later on joined him after receiving parole.

The story of Shawshank Redemption does happen in real life.  Corruption, murders, drugs and a lot of things still happens inside the prison.  This movie depicts the real life in prison.  The story is dramatic with a lot of lessons to learn.  The only thing that is not a good example in this story is escaping prison.  However, the story also teaches us that even in the lowest point in our lives; we still need to have hopes.  If we persevere and think smart, we will surely have a happy ending.

Rise of the Guardians

The story started when Jack Frost was telling how he became invisible and how the Man in the Moon lifted him from a frozen lake. On the North Pole, Santa Claus summoned the other Guardians, the Tooth Fairy, the Sandman, and the Easter Bunny because he was alerted that Pitch the Bogeyman has returned. Jack was abducted by Easter Bunny and brought to Santa’s place where he was convinced and recruited by Santa to join him and the other Guardians in preventing the looming events that may happen.

It was known to Pitch that when he takes away the things that will make the children believe in the Guardians, will make the Guardians weak. So he started the attack by taking all the children’s teeth and the childhood memories stored in them, all but one. This was followed by attacking Jack and Sandy which seems to have destroyed the Sandman.

The Easter Bunny on the other hand was preparing his Easter eggs when Pitch attacked the domain leaving everything in ruin including the Spirit of the Guardians. Jack was captured by Pitch but Baby-Tooth saved him. Jack was able to restore his power then rallied with the weakened Guardians. Jamie, the last child who believes the Guardians was able to restore their powers which defeated Pitch on the final battle bringing sandy back to life. In the end, Jack finally sworn to be a Guardian.

Some reviews of this film was ridiculed because of the characters the story. Example is that, not all people believe in Santa like the Jews and Muslims. On the other hand, some people find it amusing because of the effects that were rendered on this film. It still has a story that can create an imagination for most of the children who watched the film. With the correct guidance of the parents, this is still one of the good movies out there.

temperature is increasing rapidly caused by the neutrinos from a solar flare. 
He reported this to Carl Anheuser who then brought Adrian to the US President.

Back in the US, Jackson Curtis went to Yellowstone National Park with his children where they discovered odd things that are happening in the park.  Here they met Charlie who is pretty much aware of what’s going on.  Seismic activity escalated to full blown earthquakes and as Jackson and his family try to escape Los Angeles, California was swallowed by the Pacific Ocean.  Billions of people died in these catastrophic events.   Jackson together with his family and Gordon managed to get into China with the help of Yuri (Jackson’s boss).

In China, Yuri and his sons were able to get into the Ark whilst the others
were left behind because they don’t have tickets.  Fortunately, Tenzin passed
by them and brought them to the ark as well.  They managed to get inside the
ark without tickets but because they have entered ark where the hydraulics are
located, some unexpected events happened.  Gordon and Tamara died along the
way but Jackson and his son saved the day by getting the lodged impact driver
that is stuck in the hudraulics.

If you are looking for a suspense movie to watch together with the family,
this is one of the best out there.  It was rated PG-13 for the intense
disaster.  This maybe a little scary for younger children but for people who
is old enough to understand that this is just a product of an imaginative
mind, they will surely enjoy this.
