The Day After Tomorrow

Jack Hall is Paleoclimatologist together with his two colleagues discovered that a huge shelf of ice is slowly breaking off from the rest of the continent.  He reported this to UN conference about global warming.  He said that this could happen again in the next 100 to 1000 years if the pollution continues.  After the conference he met another scientist but to his surprise after the data has been collected, they discovered that the climate change is already happening.

Meanwhile, Sam (Jack’s son) is in New York to attend an academic competition.  During his stay there, the weather became violent as heavy rain falls in New York flooding every street and every corner of the city.  A tidal wave 40 ft. high caused by the storm surge hit New York killing a lot of people on its path.  Sam was warned by his father to stay inside any shelter and stay warm as the storm gets worse.  Jack is about to rescue his son despite of the deteriorating weather condition.

Sam warned the other people who survived the flood to stay inside the library as his father instructed.  A few listened but the rest moved on to the south.  Those who went out of the shelter died along the way.  Finally Jack rescued Sam and while the Vice President ordered a search and rescue back to US soil.  The story ended with two astronauts looking on northern hemisphere of US covered with ice.

This movie is an eye opener to others on what might just happen if we continue to abuse out nature.  It’s about time to minimize carbon printing and do further research on how to harness the energy resources in a more nature friendly way.
